In 2003, we opened our business with correction based training as the foundation. Over the years we have found that it doesn’t work nearly as well as positive training. Consider this: if corrections worked than you would only need to receive one speeding ticket and you would be cured. For most people, a speeding ticket only temporarily suppresses their speeding. We have found that the cause of the problem has to be resolved for a behavior to truly be eliminated. Once the source of the problem has been addressed and the dog really understands what is being asked, then if the dog refuses we introduce corrections.
